            WHAT  IS  Y.E.S. ?

Y.E.S. stands for Youth Expanding Services.

The Austin High School Y.E.S. Program promotes student participation and contribution to a wide variety of community services.

The purpose of the program is to  encourage a lifelong interest in volunteering.

This program promotes volunteerism more than philanthropy. Your community service contribution is recognized by the school when 100 hours   of service are accumulated over the course of your high school career (with no more than 25 hours in the summer).

Date: 4/10/22

Throughout the past two years, we have been lenient with accepting virtual and passive volunteer hours because of Covid precautions. Since most precautions are no longer necessary, we are going back to pre-Covid procedures when it comes to virtual volunteering. If you have any specific questions about what will/will not be accepted, please email your graduation year address and ask   before  you volunteer.

 YES Reminders:
  1. Online tutoring hours will no longer be accepted. We will be using the tutoring guidelines previously outlined in rule 8 of the YES contract. In addition, we will not accept any hours from 100% student run organizations due to the lack of adult oversight.
  2. Forms must be signed by a qualified adult within the non-profit organization. We will not accept forms when the non-profit signature is signed by a student, student officer or parent.  Only forms that are scans or pictures of a physical form will be accepted. No electronically completed forms or signatures.
  3. YES hours will not be awarded for attending meetings, planning events, practices or socials. YES hours are awarded for active volunteering with a non-profit in our community.
  4. WE DO NOT ACCEPT ALTERED FORMS. Do not use white out to change something later, do not change the date or the number of hours after the form has been signed by the non-profit. We do our best to check hours and may email the organization if we have questions. Anyone caught falsifying hours could be removed from YES.
  5. Passive volunteer hours such as writing letters,  making cookies, decorating bags or  making other requested item to  donate are limited to  a maximum of 10 hours during each year of high school (9, 10, 11 & 12) starting with the 2022-2023 school year.

PARTICIPATION IN THE Y.E.S. PROGRAM IS VOLUNTARY.
 _________________________________________________________________

The Y.E.S. Program is YOUR responsibility.

Your willingness to serve the community and your ability to accomplish a long term and worthwhile project is demonstrated by constantly seeking a variety of volunteer opportunities, turning in the required forms in a timely manner and keeping track of your Y.E.S. hours. This Y.E.S. website is designed to help you achieve that goal.

All students must have a contract on file before any recognition will be awarded. Contracts and volunteer forms can be found under the CONTRACT & FORMS tab.

ADDENDUM TO CONTRACT:
Please be aware that beginning May 1, 2022, AHS YES will limit students to a maximum of 10 hours of passive volunteer hours each year of high school (9, 10, 11, 12). Passive volunteer hours include but are not limited to: letter/note writing, making cookies, decorating bags, or making other requested items to donate.

Note: Forms submitted beyond 6 months from the date of service will not be accepted

The YES hours report will be updated   every two weeks

Good luck and Happy Volunteering!
