Youth Expanding Services (YES) is a Fort Bend ISD sponsored program for students who want to give back to their community through service and contribution. The purpose of the program is to encourage a lifelong interest in volunteering.

This program promotes volunteerism more than philanthropy. Your community service contribution is recognized by Austin High School when 100 hours of service are accumulated over the course of your high school career (with no more than 25 hours of service in the summer).

To gain recognition, students must follow these steps:
  1. Complete and submit the YES Contract found under Contract and Forms
  2. Volunteer your time and contribute to community non-profit organizations, drives and events
  3. Submit your volunteer  activity form for approval and documentation
  4. Visit this website for periodic updates  for the program

The YES Program is the responsibility of the individual student and is completely voluntary. Your willingness to serve the community and your ability to accomplish a long term and worthwhile project is demonstrated by constantly seeking a variety of volunteer opportunities, turning in the required forms in a timely manner and logging of your YES hours; this website is designed to help you achieve that goal.

Community service is an integral part of the college acceptance criteria. Your volunteering hours entered in the YES system are a record you can use for your college application along with the certificate you obtain.

New School Year Updates.....

  • An updated version of the YES Hours form has been added to this site. The updated version contains a specific line to add the name of the volunteer event. Please use this form going forward.

  • A updated contract has been published for the 2023-24 academic year, please review under Contract & Forms.

  • Students with less than 80 hours as of August 9, 2023 are now required to complete their hours at a minimum of five different organizations.

  • Attention Class of 2024 — The submission deadline for all 100 YES hours is April 22, 2024 at midnight.

  • Community Service Documentation Forms must be signed by a qualified adult within the non-profit organization. Forms signed by a student, student officer or parent will not be accepted. Only forms completed in pen that are scans or pictures of a physical form will be accepted; no electronically completed forms or signatures.

  • YES hours will not be awarded for attending meetings, planning events, practices or socials. YES hours are awarded for active volunteering with a non-profit in our community.

  • WE DO NOT ACCEPT ALTERED FORMS. Do not use white out to change something later, do not change the date or the number of hours after the form has been signed by the non-profit. We do our best to check hours and may email the organization if we have questions. Anyone caught falsifying hours could be removed from YES.

  • Forms submitted beyond six months from the date of service will not be accepted.

  • The YES hours report will be updated every two weeks during the school year; updates will not take place over the summer.

Good luck and Happy Volunteering!
